重案组“破案之神”庄士敦 （刘德华 饰） 四年前意外失明，离职後以侦查悬赏旧案拿花红为生。他耗时九个月锁定“旺角腐蚀性液体伤害案”嫌疑犯，岂料行动中身陷险境，幸得身手了得的女警何家彤 （郑秀文 饰） 及时相救，成功脱险。 何家彤对庄士敦出神入化的查案手法一见难忘，二人开始合作查案，何家彤更拜托庄为她寻找已失踪十多年的学妹小敏。庄运用奇特的“瞎想”，找出两名嫌疑犯，其中一人是当年彤的邻居祖，怀疑他为情杀害了小敏；另一人是怀疑与十多年前多宗女性失踪案有关的连环杀手。线索一一浮现，然而就在庄与彤全力追查之际，案情急转直下，使二人身陷绝境，真相更是出乎意料……。Plebs is described as "a thoroughly modern comedy in an ancient setting."
