故事始于1958年，28岁英姿飒爽的志愿军战斗英雄耿直邂逅22岁的北京某医院的儿科大夫、美丽年轻的南方姑娘舒曼，二人一见钟情，耿直为与资本家女儿舒曼结婚，不得不忍痛脱掉军装，放弃大好前程。年轻时，他们爱得热烈浪漫，领养儿子后虽矛盾重重，但大吵过后仍和好如初；中年时，正处文革后期，婚姻疲惫的二人在唐山大地震中坚固了爱情，一座城市倒塌成就了他们的倾城之恋；老年时，儿女成长及情感事业坎坷不断，令老夫妇耗尽心血，他们彼此关爱、相互支撑，度过了人生的艰难岁月。夫妻二人相濡以沫，不离不弃，最终牵手走进金婚。。Disarmingly realistic in its depiction of the realities of frontier life, Heartland is a strong antidote to the cliches of traditional Westerns. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut. Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。
