本片根据张乐平先生同名漫画《三毛从军记》改编而成。 在战争时期，无家可归的三毛参了军。新兵训练开始，矮小的三毛穿着“巨大”的军服站在队列中，显得十分滑稽。军营的生活让三毛一时不能适应，还有一些人故意捉弄三毛，让三毛闹出了许多笑话。但是，三毛凭借自己的机智、勇敢，努力地在部队中生存了下去。三毛做过勤务兵、炊事兵，做事十分勤奋，但也常常好心办坏事，好在部队中有很多善良的人帮助他，克服难关。 作战期间，三毛虽然个子小，但是有勇有谋。歪打正着，虽然闹了些笑话，出了些洋相，但在紧急关头，却也立了大功，成了小英雄。。沈冬雪和沈乐乐和奶奶一起长大，听奶奶说，他们的父母在外面赚大钱，等过些时间他们的爸爸妈妈就会开着小轿车回家来接他们过上更好的日子。孩子们内心期待无比，然而父母们迟迟不回来。于是冬雪开始带着乐乐去寻找真相……。In a new BBC Two series, some of the fittest men and woman around will face the toughest challenge of their lives when they take part in the recruitment week from hell.
